Terms of use

Last updated 2 November 2026

These terms cover the Float app for iOS and Android and this website. Float is made by Endurance Sports Research Ltd (“Ludum”, “we”), a company registered in England and Wales. By creating an account or using Float you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. Questions: [email protected].

Training, not medical advice

Float records and analyses your training for information and coaching purposes only. Nothing in Float is a diagnosis, prescription or medical advice, and we can’t guarantee any fitness or performance result. You’re responsible for making sure you’re fit to do the exercise you choose. If you have a health condition, check with a doctor first, and stop if you feel pain, dizziness or unwell.

Your account

Using Float

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Float for your own training. You agree not to:

We keep improving Float, so features may change, be added or be removed. New features are covered by these terms.

Your data

Your sessions, heart-rate data, check-ins and other content stay yours. You let us store and process them to run Float for you: recording, analysing and syncing your sessions, and showing them to the coaches of any squad you join.

We may also use your data in de-identified form, combined with other athletes’ data, for research and to develop and improve our products. De-identified data never includes your name or contact details, and we won’t try to identify you from it. The privacy policy explains what we collect and your rights.

Squads and coaches

If you join a squad, its coaches see your sessions, check-ins and test results while you’re a member. Leave the squad in the app to stop sharing. Your club or coach may have their own agreement with Ludum; these terms still apply to your use of Float.

Equipment and connected services

Float works with rowing machines and heart-rate straps over Bluetooth, and can send sessions to services such as Ludum, Strava and Concept2 Logbook. Readings depend on your equipment and its connection. Other companies’ products and services are covered by their own terms, and we aren’t responsible for their availability or content.

Our name and the app

Ludum owns Float, its software and design, and the Float and Ludum names and logos. These terms don’t give you any right to use them.

Paid features

If we introduce paid features, we’ll show you the price and any extra terms before you pay. You can still use the rest of Float under these terms.

Our responsibility to you

We work hard to keep Float reliable and your data safe, but we can’t promise the service will always be available or free of errors, and it is provided “as is”. Keep your own copy of anything important: you can export any session as FIT, TCX or CSV.

We aren’t liable for losses that weren’t foreseeable, or for business losses. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit, and nothing affects your legal rights as a consumer.

Ending

You can stop using Float and delete your account at any time from You → Delete account (see deleting your account). We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we may stop offering Float; if we do, we’ll give you reasonable notice where we can so you can export your sessions.

Changes and law

If we change these terms we’ll update the date at the top, and tell you in the app if the change matters. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere, you keep any protections your local consumer law gives you.
